Do DSU Students Really Get Personal Attention? Students who get personal attention from faculty and staff are more likely to succeed and enjoy their college experience. So, how can a perspective student find out how good a university really is at providing personal attention? There are several things to look for: size, commitment to teaching, and survey results. Dakota State University (DSU) has about 2,300 students. This smaller size is an advantage over many other universities; it's harder for DSU students to get lost in a sea of student faces. At some universities, strong emphasis on research or service can mean less emphasis on teaching. At DSU, faculty research and service enrich the student learning experience. DSU's commitment is in teaching students and helping them prepare for successful careers. In a recent national survey, DSU students rated "Concern for the Individual" significantly higher than students at other four-year, public universities. DSU students are significantly more satisfied with the attention they receive and know that faculty, residence hall staff, counseling staff and the institution overall cares for them as individuals. |
